Can't say I've always been the biggest fan of Spike's game coverage, but lately it seems like they've been trying to clean up their act. (No, "Hottest Game Vixen" or similar toothless awards in the 2007 line-up, for one.) So, I'll probably give 'em a shot and tune in to the 2007 Video Game awards when they run on Spike TV on December 9th at 9 PM (EST and PST). After all, there's a lot of Nintendo goodness in the nominations this year...
  • Wii Sports is up in the hilariously-named Most Addictive Game Fueled by Dew category. Up against Halo 3 on Spike TV, though? I can't see any chance of it taking the win.
  • Super Mario Galaxy had better take Best Action Game. Nothing it's competing with even comes close.
  • Ubisoft's DS-exclusive Jam Sessions is up for Best Rhythm game, but seems sure to lose to Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
  • Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Paper Mario are up for Best Wii Game. Strikes me as an obvious toss-up between Twilight Princess and Galaxy.
  • Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass are both up for best handheld game. My bet for this one is Zelda, but Puzzle Quest could pull an upset.
