Standing at a monstrous 97% on MetaCritic, Super Mario Galaxy is Nintendo's major bombshell for this fall. Most of its review scores are perfect 10/10s, like Patrick Shaw's GamePro. Even the most negative review I could find online, by GameDaily's Libe Goad, is still a glowing 9/10. By all accounts, this game is the real business.

So what do you guys who have the game think? I don't get my copy until later tonight, so eventually I'll probably be popping up in the comments with my impressions once I've spent some quality time with this one. My first goal is beating Bowser, and then seeing how far I can get with snagging all the stars. I think with Mario 64 I got all but the last eight before I got another game I wanted to play more.

By the way, if you want to get the drop on strategy for this game, I've got a hot tip for you: DoubleJump Books is putting up an online strategy guide via their Hardcore Gamer website. This is going to include strats and instructional videos for how to find all the stars once it's complete (right now, about 1/3 of the vids are up). You've got to register and log in to see the guide vids, but otherwise it's free and worth your time. My old boss Tim Lindquist wrote it, and he's one mean gamer. A direct link to the strategy guide is here.

1up.com also has a SuperGuide up that's coming along nicely, although it'll probably be few weeks after the game is out before it's 100%. That's about average for a FAQ, and letting lots of people contribute is a smart idea. My only problem with it right now is that 1up's server appears to be getting hammered, so attempts to view pages time out roughly two out of every three times I try to look at a page. Yikes.
