Features tend to suffer in online games journalism, but this is a really cool idea that couldn't be easily presented anywhere but the 'net. Head over to Gamespot and roll your mouse over Super Mario Sunshine screenshots to see direct comparisons with similar environments in Super Mario Galaxy. I've got to agree with Gamespot on this one, though: Sunshine's water really did look better. I can handle slightly worse water as a trade-off for flying through space, though.
