So everyone's pretty familiar with the details of Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai's production blog. The statement that there would be one or two third-party characters in Brawl, not counting Solid Snake, has fed a lot of speculation about who the other "guests" would be. After Sega's Sonic was unveiled, Capcom's Mega Man emerged as the odds-on favorite to be the third.
Alas, according to Mega Man's creator Keiji Inafune, it is not to be. Go Nintendo plucked the details out of a podcast about another Capcom project:
Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. Its a great series&but, Nintendo hasnt asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. Im still waiting&we have a little bit of time left, its not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if wed like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Brothers. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, theyll give me a call.
But even if they had included Mega Man, you just know it would've been the lame Beast Force Star EXE Vanilla-Mango versions.
