The Lowdown: Wii Sports Resort is pretty much Wii Sports 2, but with Wii MotionPlus support to allow for more perfectly realistic motion input from the Wii Remote. It's also designed as basically something you get a group of friends (or family) together to play. Example games shown off at the press conference include Disc Dog (throw a frisbee a dog catches), Power Cruising (a jetski race), and Sword Play (fencing). The game comes with a Wii MotionPlus pack-in accessory.
The Hype: Sword Play is going to let you finally have totally realistic motion-tracking swordfighting in a Wii game. Have your Miis beat up other Miis! Also, the dog in Dog Disc is extremely cute.
The Snark: While this may be a great buy for your dad, if it's anything like Wii Sports, core gamers are going to be tired of it in a week. If you want to play any future MotionPlus titles, you may have to buy it anyway.
