So it turns out that Chrono Trigger DS is going to ship with something called "Arrange Mode", that lets you play the game with SNES-style menus. If you opt to play the game in its standard mode, all of the menu information is focused on the bottom screen, leaving the top screen as a nearly-clean graphics display. Now, personally, I'd think freeing up the lovely sprite graphics from all the menu clutter is one of Chrono Trigger DS's selling points, but I suppose it's nice to have modes that cater to purists, too. Of course, as Siliconera rightfully points out, playing the game in this mode does render one of Lucca's early-game abilities basically useless....
