Siliconera brings the good news on this: the online monster arena feature for Chrono Trigger DS is absolutely confirmed, thanks to scans from the latest issue of Shounen Jump (the Japanese version, that is). The scan also confirms the Dimensional Distortion dungeon, but not the rumored Dragon's Sanctuary dungeon. The scan doesn't confirm stuff like breeding and raising monsters but does clearly show a player-controlled monster dueling another critter. Additionally, the Shounen Jump scan makes the monster arena sound more like FFVI's Colosseum than a Dragon Quest-style arena mini-game.
