Along with Sonic Unleashed, Wii owners get an extra Sonic title to look forward to in 2009, Sonic and the Black Knight. The gimmick for this game is that Sonic has a sword, and... actually, it's looking kinda good in this trailer (and I love the Sonic Adventure throwback theme song). The gameplay seems fast, graphics are quite acceptable, and the swordfighting animations are pretty slick. Here's to hoping it's finally a really good Sonic game, instead of the steady parade of okayish ones that have hit as of late.

I, for one, am glad that Sonic can finally slide down walls and performing a spinning jump attack to harm enemies!
Jokes aside, it doesn't look that bad. Sonic and the Secret Rings was probably the closest Sonic has come to a good 3-D game in a long while, and assuming that Black Knight is an improved version of that, it can only be a good thing. The Sword gimmick doesn't really seem to.. change anything in the basic gameplay, but the video was pretty short, so maybe they'll have more to it.
