Right now Guitar Hero: World Tour is winning the rhythm game war on the Wii by virtue... uh, by virtue of showing up. Kinda like Guitar Hero III. Harmonix has even allowed Rock Band 2's release date on Wii to slip significantly, into January 2009. That said, while Wii owners are going to be waiting awhile to see it, Harmonix is promising buyers who take the plunge for Rock Band 2 on Wii will get almost all of the same DLC that the Xbox 360 and PS3 SKUs already enjoy.

He also made some comments about the where-the-hell-is-it-anyway version of Rock Band 2 for Wii, which Wired.com reported will be a fully-featured product with downloadable content etc. In fact, Rigopulos said that Harmonix will, over a period of several months, bring most of the downloadable songs that are already available for the next-gen console versions to the Wii store.

With Guitar Hero World Tour already stumbling at getting all of the 360/PS3 DLC onto the Wii, that's a very big promise. If Harmonix can keep it, then Rock Band 2 might end up being more of a contender than the anemic original.
