Remember that supply of "tens of thousands" of Wiis that Wal-Mart put on sale yesterday? By 4 PM, the entire stock was gone, including the pricier bundles that paired up a Wii and Wii Fit. The Wii Fits are all gone, too.

In a recent Reuters interview, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata claimed that about 800,000 Wiis had sold in the United States during the Thanksgiving Holiday week. To put some perspective on this figure, consider that Nintendo moved just over 900,000 Wiis during the entire month of November in 2007.

There was plenty of speculation last year that Nintendo easily could've sold two or three times as many Wiis as they actually did, if only they had the manufacturing capacity to get them on shelves. Now that word is out on the 'net that it's easier to find Wiis in stores, are we just going to see a wave of new demand?
