Yesterday GoNintendo ran across a shocker of a rumor: an apparent statement by Capcom in a "Chinese Gaming Magazine" that Monster Hunter 3 may not be Wii exclusive! Lynxara, realizing that the article was actually in Japanese, sent me on a mission to discover the scan's origins and translate it for myself.
First off, I can confirm that GoNintendo's translation is correct. Although the scan originated at this Chinese site, it's actually from the Japanese gaming magazine Gamelabo. Here's my translation of the exchange.
CAPCOM: I know what you mean (laughs). First of all, let me just say that we don't abandon gaming platforms. We just try our best to figure out which software will sell the best on which hardware.
GAMELABO: But we know you're not developing [Monster Hunter] 3 for the PS3, right?
CAPCOM: It's too early to say at this stage, but we actually haven't confirmed that Monster Hunter 3 will be a Wii exclusive.
GAMELABO: What?! So you might develop it for PS3?!
CAPCOM: All I'm saying is that we don't want to rule it out completely, since we'll get in trouble if we get too far ahead of ourselves (laughs). Anyway, my own feeling on the subject is that we should release a title that can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
