The main line of Pokemon games is so ridiculously popular that giving each new generation a single 'chaser' that offers slightly better features and a rebalanced Pokemon selection - as in Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and the upcoming Platinum - makes a lot of sense. What is surprising is that the latest set Chunsoft-developed spinoff series, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, is also selling well enough now to merit its own chaser game.

The latest issue of Japan's Coro Coro Comics revealed the game, tentatively titled Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky. In the chaser game tradition, it'll feature expanded content not seen in the Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness games.

  • Five extra partners available at game start: Riolu, Eevee, Phanpy, Vulpix, and Shinx
  • A new battle against Grovyle the Thief, who is "back from the future"
  • Extra adventures for your Guild members, including the opportunity to control Pokemon other than your protagonist.

I might pick this one up if and when it streets in English-- Explorers of Time and Darkness reviewed a lot better than the Red and Blue Rescue Team games did, and I always like a decent-to-good roguelike.
