I haven't covered much about SouthPeak's DS shooter, Big Bang Mini, because the controls sounded like the kind of thing I badly needed to get my hands on before I could form any kind of opinion. Well, as you might have gathered from the, y'know, headline, a free demo for the game is up on your Wii's Nintendo Channel right now.
The demo contains the full Shanghai level, another full level with no boss, and then a bonus boss to defeat. It was enough of a taste of the game to make me a believer. The 2D graphics are bright and colorful, it's the rare DS game with screen-to-screen gameplay that's actually manageable, and it's a really clever spin on the traditional shooter. If you've got the Wii/DS combo, I highly, highly recommend you go pick it up yourself and see what you think.
If my enthusiasm isn't enough to get you going, I've embedded a couple of trailers behind the cut. I'll warn you, though: watching these doesn't convey just how good playing the demo feels.
