When it comes to Professor Layton, we Westerners are stuck sitting around and waiting for the release of the promised second title in the series, Professor Layton and Pandora's Box. In Japan, the Layton series has concluded and fans have a new animated movie based on the series to look forward to in January 2010.
The Layton movie is being produced in the same animated style as the DS game's cutscenes, and judging from the trailer above, the movie's animation is going to be at least at the same quality level. Both of the new trailers feature Professor Layton and Luke solving puzzles where the answer is eiga (or "movie"), but the one above features more animation so I thought it was a little more interesting.
The second trailer, and the first posters for the movie, await you behind the cut. No word yet on U.S. licensing for the movie, but since anime movies are generally pretty easy to distribute, I imagine someone will snap it up.
