The Japanese version of the Nintendo DSi shipped with 1000 free Nintendo Points that, hopefully, encouraged buyers to check out the new DSiWare store. Target's website accidentally confirmed that the US version of the DSi will also give buyers 1000 Nintendo Points to play with right out of the package. The spoilery text appears to have been stricken from Target's product page for the DSi, but at one point you could read the following information there (courtesy GoNintendo):

Upon initial access to Nintendo DSi Shop, 1,000 Nintendo DSi Points will be credited to your account, which you can then use to download your free Nintendo DSi-exclusive games and applications. Wireless broadband connection and acceptance of user agreement required. Nintendo DSi Shop must be accessed to receive free points. Limited time offer. For full details, please visit DsiOffer.Nintendo.com.

Some people are saying that this essentially removes ten dollars from the cost of the DSi, but I don't know about that. I think Nintendo would've charged $169.99 with or without the free point promotion. That said, if you've thinking of picking up the DSi so you can have access to the whatever indy or retro goodness pops up for download, Nintendo's just sweetened the deal.

All in all, DSI's an awesome system but it's gonna have it's drawbacks. 1 BABY SIT your memory card because it'll walk away and then you're essentially SCREWED! That's all you need is for somebody to walk away with all of your games, data and everything else you've worked hard for to get your parents to buy your data/games with, reason being the card is so small that you'll never know it's gone till it's to late kids/adults and gamers alike. 2. Put an alarm on your system because it WILL walk away if you're not careful. It's an extremely hot item and small enough to put in somebody's pockets when they think you're not looking or somebody else has grabbed your attention.
