If you've been keeping an eye on Game Pro Sports you already know that Wii MotionPlus is going to be appearing as a pack-in with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. You could argue this is just because Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 is going to ship ahead of Wii Sports Resort, but Sega's Virtua Tennis 2009 is shipping even sooner and isn't getting a MotionPlus pack-in. What gives?
Consider this: a lot of the best games in Wii Sports Resort are designed for at least two players. Wii Sports Resort can only pack one MotionPlus in with that copy of the game. But if players opt to buy a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 when it comes out in June, the MotionPlus they get with Wii Sports Resort will be their second.
EA's Grand Slam Tennis is also shipping with a MotionPlus pack-in, so someone who bought both EA games would get a third when buying Wii Sports Resort. Factor in the freestanding MotionPlus that someone might buy for trying out Virtua Tennis 2009 and that's four MotionPlus units already in the house the day Wii Sports Resort arrives, ready for four-player gameage.
Clever, Nintendo. Everyone's gotten so used to you ignoring your third party publishers that they'll never see it coming.
