So, around the time that Retro Game Challenge came out in the US, a sequel was hitting Japanese store shelves. Under the title Game Center CX 2, it offered just about everything a fan of the original could possibly want-- especially more parody games to play and a new system that allows players to receive different challenges every day.
Does this game sound like fun to you? Do you want to play this in English? Then go get your friends to buy copies of Retro Game Challenge. It turns out U.S. Retro Game Challenge publisher XSEED can't justify localizing the sequel until the original sells more copies. From XSEED's Ken Berry:
Retro Game Challenge started off well but still hasn't gotten to the point where we can justify bringing over the sequel. It's amazing how many people write to thank us for publishing that game, so perhaps as those enthusiast fans continue to spread the word we will get to where we need to be eventually.
I'm pretty much the definition of a Retro Game Challenge enthusiast, so: people! Seriously! Buy the game yourself and give it a try if you haven't. If you played it and liked it, get your friends to buy a copy instead of just pirating a ROM! Otherwise I'm going to end up feeling really silly for not picking up a copy of Game Center CX 2 when I was in Japan!
