So, around the time that Retro Game Challenge came out in the US, a sequel was hitting Japanese store shelves. Under the title Game Center CX 2, it offered just about everything a fan of the original could possibly want-- especially more parody games to play and a new system that allows players to receive different challenges every day.

Does this game sound like fun to you? Do you want to play this in English? Then go get your friends to buy copies of Retro Game Challenge. It turns out U.S. Retro Game Challenge publisher XSEED can't justify localizing the sequel until the original sells more copies. From XSEED's Ken Berry

Retro Game Challenge started off well but still hasn't gotten to the point where we can justify bringing over the sequel. It's amazing how many people write to thank us for publishing that game, so perhaps as those enthusiast fans continue to spread the word we will get to where we need to be eventually.

I'm pretty much the definition of a Retro Game Challenge enthusiast, so: people! Seriously! Buy the game yourself and give it a try if you haven't. If you played it and liked it, get your friends to buy a copy instead of just pirating a ROM! Otherwise I'm going to end up feeling really silly for not picking up a copy of Game Center CX 2 when I was in Japan!

That just makes me the saddest panda. I'd honestly import it, but I'm not comfortable enough with the Detective Game thing in Japanese to do it.

I was afraid this would happen. I'm trying to spread the word but it isn't easy, especially since the game seems to be somewhat difficult to find in stores these days. (I haven't seen it around anywhere lately.)

If it doesn't come out here, I guess I'll have to import it. While I can still enjoy the action games, it isn't going to be much fun having to stumble around in the Guadia Quest sequel, and the Detective game is going to be unplayable for me in Japanese. (And unlike most people, that game was actually one of the titles in the sequel I was most looking forward to!) Hopefully it isn't a lost cause yet.

Def need to pick this one up. It's been on my radar for a while. Just been having monetary issues :/

@ArnoldRimmer:

RGC has probably become hard to find due to low orders and sales. The VG Chartz estimate has the title selling 4,000 copies in its first ten weeks on the US market. That means, realistically, there's probably less than 10,000 copies floating around the U.S. market, period.

You're not the only one gonna feel silly for not picking it up in Japan.

I am extremely sad that it looks like it's not getting ported over. :/
