I started doing the "in stores this week" line of posts so the site could try to keep track of what's going on with retail Wii releases the way we at this point can generally keep track of digital Nintendo releases every week. This is one of those weeks where I wonder just how good of an idea all this really was. This week Nintendo fans are going to see the release of a veritable avalanche of really great and interesting games for DS and Wii. I really don't envy gamers on a budget who have to try and figure out what to prioritize here.

The big news this week is pretty clearly the US debut of Wii MotionPlus alongside three different third-party games that will feature support for it: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, Grand Slam Tennis, and Virtua Tennis 2009. Fans who pick up Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will be able to buy it with a Wii MotionPlus as a pack-in. LucasArts is also shipping Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, which features the classic adventure game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis as a pack-in.  The latest iteration of the MySims franchise is shipping with MySims Racing. Last but not least, you've got Nintendo quietly shipping The Legendary Starfy out for Nintendo DS .

Hit the jump for trailers, commentary, and futile attempts to give you an idea of which of these games is most worth buying.

This week it looks like the best investment of a player's money on Wii in terms of overall fun is probably going to be Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 with Wii MotionPlus support. Both of the tennis games are drawing heavily mixed reviews thus far, while the Tiger Woods series has always managed to have particularly good Wii iterations.

Most players dying to buy a game this week would probably much rather sate their curiosity about MotionPlus than play through any of the other offerings, which are all showing signs of being mediocre at best. A retro fan might want to snag Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for the Fate of Atlantis port, but that's probably a minority of you at best.

The situation on DS is a lot more clear-cut-- there's really nothing being offered this week that's in danger of being more interesting than The Legendary Starfy. The only possible contender would be LEGO Battles, which I have a copy of and need to get to playing. Reactions to that game are extremely mixed, though, so it seems like something that would mostly appeal to the diehard LEGO game fan. Oh, how wonderful to live in a world where I can type that sentence with no sense of irony whatsoever!

Woah, a Lego strat game? This is basically what I've been waiting for ever since Lego Racers came out! Hopefully it isn't completely bound to the classic "genres" of Legoland, so I can have knights crushing pirates with moon buggies.
