DLC is nothing really new to the DS, but Dragon Quest IX may be ready to take the crown from Animal Crossing: Wild World as the system's DLC champion. Japanese fans poking around in the guts of the game have discovered one year's worth of DLC quests and other bonus content in Dragon Quest, according to forum rumors picked up by GoNintendo

There are 25 treasure map bosses, 12 of which are old DQ bosses: all of these bosses start at lv1, and level up as you beat them, making the next encounter harder than the previous one. It is also possible to recreate all of the past game heroes, as well as the main characters in this game with downloadable quests and ultra rare drops.

It's worth noting that most DS DLC is actually content stored on the cart that you unlock by having your DS access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection as a trigger. Even so, Dragon Quest IX's commitment to bonus content is going to give this game truly insane replay value. That Square-Enix even designed this stuff at all is commendable.
